Hoton Village Show

This year we are going to have some fun and friendly 'village show' competitions. You can take part in as many categories as you like, no matter your age or ability. It is free to take part. Winners will be awarded with a certificate and respect from fellow villagers!

On the day of the Village Show, exhibitors will take their exhibits between 11am-12pm to the village hall and leave them there for judging. In the afternoon the hall will be open from 2pm -5pm to view all exhibits and see the winning entrants. There will also be lots of tea and cake...

Fancy your hand at judging? – no expertise required, only enthusiasm and a sense of fair play! You will not be able to take part in any category you are judging.

We also need some volunteers to help with tombola stall, judging, refreshments etc. and we need donations of tombola prizes, bric-a- brac, books, botttles and cakes.

Please let Chris 880137 or Heather 880682 know if you are able to help or email hotonvillagehall@gmail.com

See attached PDF for category details - please note by popular demand the decorated welly competition will now have an adult section as well as the childrens ;)

Entry forms will be available on the day at the hall when you bring your entries to the hall.

Defibrillator Training and Talk

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 15:00

As you may have already read in the Link, the Parish Council have agreed to support a community project to purchase a defibrillator for Hoton. If sufficient funds are raised the Parish Council have committed to taking ownership of the defibrillator and maintaining it, including the purchase of replacement pads and batteries.

To assist villagers in considering what is involved we have arranged for Peter Blount, who is the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) CFR co-ordinator for the Wolds area, to provide a presentation at the Village Hall on Saturday 30th September at 3pm. Tea and Coffee will be available.

Peter will cover areas including:
# Introduction to CFR role
# Do I have to have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)?
# What is an AED?
# What are others doing?
# Is a rescuer likely to be sued?
# What does the law say and what are my responsibilities?
# where do I put it?
# Which AED should I have?
# what is the cost?
# Where does EMAS fit in?
# What happens in an emergency?

Mark Gane will then lead an open discussion with villagers looking at how funds could be raised and with a view to possibly forming a village group to take this forward.

Ahead of the session, if you would like to see a Defibrillator being used, Peter and colleagues are running a training session on Tuesday 26th September at Wymeswold Memorial Hall. There are sessions at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.

If you are interested in supporting a Defibrillator for the village, but unable to attend on Saturday 30th September, please contact Mark direct on 01509 881925 or email sarahjanegane@aol.com.
