Hoton Parish Council News - May 2019

Tree work in Hoton
Charnwood Borough Council has recently taken action as a result of trees in the village being felled without permission. It might be helpful to remind residents that we live in a designated conservation area and by law, anyone planning to cut down or carry out work to a tree which has a trunk of more than 7.5cm diameter must give Charnwood Borough Council six weeks written notice of their intention to do so. The notice must describe all plans and include enough information to enable the council to identify the tree(s). Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defence and offenders may be liable to a fine of up to £20,000.

Wolds Villages Neighbourhood Plan
The plan is nearing completion and it is anticipated it will be submitted for independent examination soon, following which there will be a further period of consultation for residents and other stakeholders to make comments. Keep an eye on the noticeboards and website for further information.

Playing Field
A commemorative oak tree has been planted at the playing field by the family of Julianna K Woods, who lived at 17 Vinetree Terrace for almost 30 years from 1988-2017.

Meeting with the Prestwold Estate
Councillors met with a representative of the Prestwold Estate
and discussed a number of issues. It has been confirmed that the Forbidden Forest event will not be held again. The Estate continues to promote the area for events which are appropriate to the setting and location; there are a number of planned events in the coming year which the parish borough council is made aware of on a regular basis.

Speed monitoring has recently been carried out on roads in the village and the parish council continues to correspond with the police on this matter. In addition, there are ongoing negotiations with the county council following a request to extend the 30mph zone on Rempstone Road.

Application for poultry units on Rempstone Road
We have been informed that this application is to be determined by the Charnwood Plans Committee on 20 June. Anyone wishing to speak at the meeting must submit a request to do so, in writing, to development control at Charnwood Borough Council no later than 7 working days before the date of the meeting.
