Wendy Kirkland : Piano and Voice with her Trio

'A tribute to the very best female pianist singers of jazz'

One of great unsung heroines of British jazz, Chesterfield-based Wendy Kirkland presents her critically acclaimed tribute to female jazz pianist-singers like herself, with fresh arrangements of songs made famous by wonderful jazzwomen from Nina Simone, Norah Jones and Shirley Horn to Tania Maria and Dena DeRose.

A huge touring hit, this is a varied and vastly entertaining evening of jazz song is brought to new life by Wendy's highly accomplished pianism and warm, eloquent voice which as been likened to Blossom Dearie with hints of Diana Krall .

All accompanied by the superb musicianship of her top-class band.

Derbyshire born and bred Kirkland began playing piano at age 10 and has continued to be a student of the genre, with influences ranging from the traditional touchpoints like Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, right through to insider favourites like Eliane Elias and Michel Petrucciani.
